NFL insider Albert Breer was unclear and the Browns were no longer interested in building around him but rather in providing competition to the quarterback room. That's code for “he's gone,” regardless of whether he's on the roster for salary cap reasons or not.
So what do the Browns do at the quarterback position going forward?
The . If the Browns can't imagine signing Shedeur Sanders from Colorado, then it's definitely worth betting on this class. Even if they sign Sanders, bringing Winston back as the starter for 2025 to give the rookie time would be profitable in the long run.
The same goes for the promising 2026 class. That begs the question: Could Winston even see a possible two-year deal?
In the Week 12 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers in a snowglobe, Winston posted a massive 54 percent success rate . However, his sample size of four games isn't large enough to make a comprehensive judgment, but it will be for the rest of the season.

Now 2-2 as the starting quarterback, we have three positive performances from Winston with limited turnovers and a classic Winston game in the loss to the Los Angeles Chargers. Can Winston for another short-term deal to hang around Northeast Ohio as a bridge quarterback?
