The Vikings saw a slight increase in their ESPN power rankings following their thrilling 30-27 overtime win over the Chicago Bears. At the start of Week 12, Minnesota was ranked 6th, but after defeating the Bears, the Vikings entered Week 13 as the fifth-best team in the NFL.
FPI rightly lists the Vikings' defense as one of the top reasons why the team is in a great position for a playoff spot. Coordinator Brian Flores' group has outsmarted opposing quarterbacks earlier this season and continued to find ways to pile up takeaways (22) and sacks (38). . . The Vikings got far more out of quarterback Sam Darnold, including 21 touchdown passes, than anyone expected.
On Sunday, the Vikings host the Arizona Cardinals, who just lost to the Seahawks. According to ESPN, Arizona is the 14th ranked team. The Cardinals are currently 6-5 this year.
The game will be of great benefit to both teams as they look to secure a division title.
