The 2024 edition of the Continental Classic began on the November 27th edition of AEW Dynamite, with several wrestlers already gaining some momentum. Shelton Benjamin became the first man to score a victory by defeating Mark Briscoe in the opening match of Dynamite.

After a chaotic ending to “Full Gear 2024,” Adam Page came out on the November 27 episode of AEW Dynamite and explained that Christian Cage was unable to honor his championship contract. He now took matters into his own hands to have a chance at the gold. He declared his intention to become the next champion. Jay White wasn't happy about this and said he deserved the gold. especially since he defeated Page at both WrestleDream and full equipment.

Both Adam Cole and Kyle O'Reilly want to get their hands on MJF

In the last few months Both Adam Cole and Roderick Strong wanted to get their hands on MJF. Strong got his chance, but ended up getting eliminated at Full Gear. Kyle O'Reilly has now entered the fight, telling Adam Cole on Dynamite that he wanted revenge for Strong by targeting MJF as well. This led to heated arguments between Cole and O'Reilly.
MJF appeared on Tron and announced that the Dynamite Dozen Battle Royal would take place next week, with his Dynamite Diamond Ring on the line. O'Reilly and Cole both declared their participation in the match.
