The all-powerful International cricket Council (ICC) board had a brief virtual meeting today and it is understood that no decision has been taken on it yet Champions trophy 2025. It is further learned that the Board will meet again in the next few days and work towards a positive resolution to the multinational event, which was originally scheduled to take place in Pakistan in February-March next year.
The Board of Control for cricket in India (BCCI) had already informed the global cricket body of his decision not to travel to Pakistan for the tournament. The Indian Cricket Association is said to have called for a hybrid model for the tournament, with it playing its matches in the United Arab Emirates. However, Pakistan stuck to its stance and insisted that the entire tournament be played in their country.
Today's meeting was expected to end the tension, but it is likely to continue for a few more days as no result was reached today. The tournament is already behind schedule because the schedules, which were supposed to be published 100 days before the first game, have not yet been announced and there is no clarity for the broadcasters about the host country.
There are rumors that the global body is offering Pakistan a financial incentive to push the hybrid model, but the Pakistan Cricket Board (Circuit board) have so far stuck to their original position of hosting all matches, including the matches against India, in their country. They have already begun a major modernization exercise for the venues shortlisted for the multi-nation tournament.
