After a six-month break, Adam Copeland appears ready to get back in the ring.
Copeland has been out of AEW since suffering a broken tibia at Double or Nothing in May. The injury occurred during a barbed wire steel cage match in which Copeland defeated Malakai Black. When Copeland jumped off the top of the cage, he landed feet first and broke his leg.
It was recently reported that Copeland . He appeared to confirm this in a new interview with The Leafs Nation.
“I feel good,” Copeland said. “You know, my brain forgets I'm 51, but my body quickly reminded me, 'Yeah, you just jumped 21 feet, asshole.' That's technically three stories. You're 51, stop it.' But I feel good. I’m ready to pick it up and get back into action.”
PWInsider reported this week that Copeland is cleared for physical activity but is not expected to return to AEW on a regular basis until he finishes filming the next season of the Disney Plus series “Percy Jackson and the Olympians.” Filming for the show is expected to wrap up in January.
AEW will be in Copeland's current hometown of Asheville, North Carolina on January 1st for a fight for the Fallen edition of Dynamite. If Copeland is available to perform, it would make sense for his return to happen that night. The show benefits victims of Hurricane Helene, which had a severe impact on the Asheville area in September of this year. It also marks the start of simulcasting AEW programming on Max.
Copeland was TNT Champion before his injury forced him to relinquish the belt. Jack Perry went on to become champion, but recently lost the title to Daniel Garcia at Full Gear.
