The Cleveland Browns need a wide receiver, and Missouri wide receiver Luther Burden III fits the value, need and scheme in the 2025 NFL Draft.
At the moment If it were in the draft today, the Browns find themselves in a strange position where there isn't really an offensive tackle worth this pick and both quarterbacks are probably not on the field. This creates the opportunity to add a wide receiver.
In The Browns selected the Missouri star with the eighth overall pick after the top two quarterbacks were already off the board. Here's what Daft on Draft had to say about Burden III and his fit with the Browns:
“For a quarterback out of reach and with no offensive tackles worthy of being ranked in the top ten, the Browns provide a dynamic playmaker.” Elijah Moore is a free agent after the season, and Luther Burden III is Moore practically juiced after the catch with impeccable body control when working on the field and along the edge of the field.”
The Browns have spent so long trying to find a player who can stretch the field laterally and expand their running game. Moore wasn't quite that player. However, Burden III, primarily a slot player who has the skills to play outside, is a force in the open field with the football in his hands.
Then when you consider all of his work on the field, Burden III has the innate ability to locate the football and adjust his body on the fly with elite body control to make the play. Offensively, this would be a great fit for the Browns.
However, with six games left to play, the Browns have a chance to see their draft slot swing one way or the other. For now, however, Luther Burden III would be a standout choice.
