Manchester City: Pep Guardiola asks for chance to turn form around

Pep Guardiola says he has asked Manchester City's hierarchy for a chance to change the club's shape but will leave if he fails to do so.

Guardiola is experiencing the worst form of his managerial career, with City having previously lost five games in a row in all competitions conceded a three-goal lead to draw against Feyenoord in the Champions League during the week.

His cause hasn't been helped by a series of injuries to key players, including Ballon d'Or winner Rodri, who will miss the rest of the season.

Guardiola has won 18 trophies since moving to the Etihad Stadium in 2016, including six Premier League titles in seven years and the Champions League.

However, the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich head coach, who recently signed a new two-year contract, says this is no guarantee he will stay in the job if results don't improve.

“I don’t want to stay there if I feel like I’m a problem,” he said. “I don’t want to stay here just because the contract is there.

“My chairman knows that. I said to him, 'Give me a chance to try to come back,' and especially if everyone comes back.” [from injury] and see what happens.

“If I can't do it later, we'll have to change, because of course [the previous] Nine years are dead.

“More than ever, I ask my superiors to give me the chance.”

“Will it be easy for me now? No. I feel like I still have a job to do and I want to do it.”
