Triple H and Rhea Ripley, Finn Balor and Damian Priest at WWE Survivor Series

At the end of Survivor Series: WarGameseveryone was waiting for something shocking to happen. WWE knew it, which is why they took their time airing the entire segment of “The Bloodline” and slowly pushed CM Punk into the background. Was this the moment that CM Punk or Paul Heyman would give up?Or, more likely, would The Rock's music hit and herald the return of The Final Boss? None of that happened, which disappointed some fans, but it was a good move. WWE shouldn't go for a shocking ending to every PLE and just let the show speak for itself most of the time. However, there could be another reason why The Rock wasn't there Survivor Series. That's because Cody Rhodes wasn't in the WarGames match.

  • Cody Rhodes helped Roman Reigns because of his feud with Solo Sikoa.
  • The Rock never came into the ring at Bad Blood.
  • Fans thought this was the first step towards a future triple threat match.

The last time we saw The Rock on WWE television was at the end of the Bad Blood PLE in early October. At the start, Roman Reigns was in trouble as he was beaten down by Solo Sikoa's new bloodline. With no one to help him, Cody Rhodes stepped in as the original tribal chief's partner. The two may have had big problems, but their hatred of Sikoa and Co. brought them together. It led to a unique matchup and a win at Bad Blood That ended with some respect between the two.

As they stared at each other and hinted at a third WWE Championship match in their rivalry, “If you smookll” played and the crowd went crazy as The Rock appeared on the stage. He never came down to the ring, instead staring at the two guys inside before counting to three on his fingers and slitting his throat with his hand. Many interpreted this to mean we were heading towards the rumored triple threat match between the three men, but months later, the big guy hasn't been seen since.

Cody Rhodes and The Rock on Raw

  • A Raw showdown hinted at a future match between The Rock and Cody Rhodes.
  • The Rock never appeared at the end of WarGames.
  • Cody Rhodes did not have a match at Survivor Series.

Before Bad Blood, it had been six months since we had seen The Rock. This came on the Raw after WrestleMania. Before Cody Rhodes really had a chance to celebrate the conclusion of his story and winning his first ever WWE Championship, he was interrupted by The Final Boss.

What followed was a very long and cumbersome promo that didn't land as well as it should have, but the point behind it was clear. The Rock wasn't done with Cody Rhodes yetand when he returned, the two went to battle. Rhodes welcomed it, as did the fans who wanted to see the two in a singles rivalry that didn't involve anyone or anything else.

WarGames is all about comparing the two versions of The Bloodlineit seemed like the perfect time for The Rock to make his presence known. Maybe he would show up to reveal that he was the true tribal chief or to attack Roman Reigns for his victory. Instead, nothing. And why is that? Because Cody Rhodes had the night off and it's Cody Rhodes that The Rock wants.

A match with Cody Rhodes would be perfect for the Royal Rumble

  • Cody Rhodes won the Royal Rumble and had a chance at a rematch with Roman Reigns.
  • The Rock attempted to take the 40th spot away from Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania.
  • A feud between The Rock and Cody Rhodes is the perfect start to the Netflix era.

We all know that the dream match between The Rock and Roman Reigns will finally happen at WrestleMania 41 next year. Roman Reigns is now the babyface WWE always wantedand the story of Cody Rhodes is over, it can't wait any longer. Before we get there, however, there is one more story to tell.

WrestleMania 40 was supposed to be the main event of Roman Reigns and The Rock, not just in kayfabe but in real life. However, that was thrown into disarray when WWE fans rebelled in an unprecedented way, turning against The Rock and demanding that Royal Rumble winner Cody Rhodes get his rematch. WWE had no choice but to go back to the original plan. The whole thing ended up being an accidental, great idea because it allowed The Rock, who had become a parody of himself as a babyface, Being a heel for the first time in many years. He teamed with Roman Reigns to defeat Seth Rollins and Cody Rhodes on the first night of WrestleMania, but thanks to The Undertaker, he was unable to stop Rhodes the next night.

It makes perfect sense why The Rock would want Cody Rhodes first. He's the one who messed up his WrestleMania plans. He was the one who overshadowed him in a way that no one else could and caused fans to turn against him. Eight months later, Rhodes is still the champion, and now Reigns has become less ruthless and a little softer, which could all be Rhodes' fault. The Rock may later reveal that he has issues with Roman, but that doesn't compare to his hatred of Cody right now. This is the perfect plan if that's where WWE wants to go. There are still four long months until WrestleMania. Cody Rhodes will hopefully face someone like John Cena or Randy Orton at the show. Until then, he and The Rock need something to do. A feud between the two would be perfect for the Netflix era that begins next month, and that is the case the ideal main event for the Royal Rumblewhen you smell what I'm cooking.
