The Washington Commanders are of a different standard these days. They are no longer happy playing hard against good teams but losing in the end. Washington is now one of those good teams and wide receiver Terry McLaurin is setting new standards.
The veteran wideout is off to arguably the best start of his six-year NFL career, turning in another standout performance in Sunday's heartbreaking 28-27 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. McLaurin caught five passes for 113 yards in the loss.
After the game, McLaurin was honest about why his team lost. It wasn't about referees or unsuccessful decisions, but about missed opportunities.
“That’s not how we wanted to end the game,” McLaurin said. “We had our chances, especially offensively, but you have to give them credit. They finished the game better than us. If they had to make a play, they did it. So we don't have too long to really think about it. DQ is talking about just introducing a 24-hour rule. We will of course look at it tomorrow and make some corrections. We're about to face another tough away game against Philly, we just have to be prepared for that. Losing is definitely possible, especially if you don’t finish well.”
Terry McLaurin said to us after the game, “We’re not done yet.”

A loss like that would take a toll on some of Washington's previous teams. This team seems to be structured differently. We'll know how the Commanders react against the Eagles on Thursday.
The good news is that some of Washington's officials have blamed the team, not the officials, for this loss and are looking to put this defeat behind them with a strong performance later this week.
