The NJPW World Tag League 2024 continued with a show in Kochi on Monday.
Three teams are tied on the A block with only one night left in round-robin play. Of the tied teams, only Bishamon controls their own destiny. They will advance to the tournament final if they defeat the War Dogs in their final round-robin tournament on Thursday. If the War Dogs win this match, Yota Tsuji and Shingo Takagi will have to lose to Shota Umino and Tomoaki Honma. If the War Dogs and Takagi & Tsuji win their final games, Takagi & Tsuji will advance.
Umino was back in action on the show after missing a non-tournament game on Sunday due to an ankle injury. However, KENTA and Owens attacked him and Honma upon entering the ring. Owens then hit Umino in the ankle with a chair shot. Afterwards, Homma got little help from his partner and was double-attacked by Owens and KENTA before Owens finally pinned him with a package piledriver. So Umino returned, but he didn't do much.
Gabe Kidd & SANADA defeated Alex Zayne & Ryusuke Taguchi in today's second tournament game, mathematically preventing the Funky Sauce team from advancing.
Bishamon picked up a big win in the semi-main event, going for his fourth straight tournament win. They defeated Jeff Cobb and Callum Newman, dropping their record to 3-3 and mathematically eliminating them from the competition.
By the time the main event reached the ring, Zack Saber Jr. and Ryohei Oiwa were mathematically eliminated. Shingo Takagi and Yota Tsuji needed a win to stay in contention, and that's exactly what they got when Tsuji pinned Oiwa after a Pumping Blaster.
A block campaign ends on Thursday.
