Durham cricket has announced that all-rounder Scott Borthwick has signed a two-year contract extension to become player-coach ahead of the 2025 season.
The 34-year-old, who returned to Durham for a second spell in 2021, will step down from his role as club captain.
In a statement, Durham said Borthwick will now play “an integral role” in developing players from the professional teams, academy and pathway squads. He will be available to Durham in all formats at least through the end of the 2026 season.
After coming through the club's academy, Borthwick was a member of the Durham squad that won three county championships and the one-day cup, while also helping to guide Durham back to Division One in 2023.
