The Miami Dolphins earned their second straight win on Sunday by defeating the Las Vegas Raiders. The 34-19 win improved the Dolphins' record to 4-6 and kept the team in contention for a playoff spot.
While there is still plenty of work to be done for Miami, the team is hot on the heels of the AFC's other teams vying for one of the conference's seven postseason spots.
But unfortunately for the Dolphins, the teams in front of them didn't give up much ground. With two primetime games remaining, the AFC standings are as follows:
- Kansas City Chiefs: 9-1 (30:21 loss to Bills)
- Buffalo Bills: 9-2 (30-21 win over the Chiefs)
- Pittsburgh Steelers: 8-2 (18-16 win over Ravens)
- Houston Texans: 6-4 (vs. Cowboys – Monday, 8:15 p.m. ET)
- Los Angeles Chargers: 6-3 (vs. Bengals – 8:20 p.m. ET)
- Baltimore Ravens: 7-4 (18:16 loss to the Steelers)
- Denver Broncos: 6-5 (38-6 win against the Falcons)
- Indianapolis Colts: 5-6 (28-27 win against the Jets)
- Miami Dolphins: 4-6 (31-19 win against Raiders)
- Cincinnati Bengals: 4-6 (vs. Chargers – 8:20 p.m. ET)
The six AFC teams not listed all have at least eight losses.
What could play a big role at the end of the year is the Dolphins' 16-10 loss to the Colts in October. However, if Miami continues to win, those crucial consequences could be left in the dust if Indianapolis suffers more losses.
