Fabio Quartararo published a post this Friday morning on his social networks announcing that he had undergone surgery: “Arm operation completed! A few days of rest and ready to return to training”, wrote ‘el Diablo’ accompanying a photo in his hospital bed, always wear the usual blue coat in medical centers.
The Yamaha rider underwent surgery for a compartment syndrome problem in his right arm. The operation consists of making small openings in the part of the forearm to release the muscles from the pressure to which they are subjected when riding MotoGP.
The French runner handed himself over to his trusted doctors at CH Aix en Provence, the same center where he underwent his last operation..
The first time Fabio had problems with his right arm was in 2019, his first year in the premier class with Yamaha Petronas. Then, after the general practitioner in Italy, organized in June, he felt a lot of discomfort and decided to have an operation immediately at the Dexeus-Grupo Quirónsalud University Hospital in Barcelona, where he lived at the time.
After joining the official Yamaha team in 2021, Quartararo again had problems with his right arm while leading the Spanish GP at Jerez, and ended up crossing the line 13th. Fabio had surgery, this time at the CH hospital in Aix en Provence, just 10 days before that year’s French GP, where he finished 3rd.
This year, arm problems have been recurring for the French rider who waited until the end of the season to undergo a third operation on his right arm, with the hope that it would be permanent.
Quartararo, who in his Instagram post already announces that he will return to training in a few days, now has until February to fully recover from his physical problems, since unlike Honda, which will test next week in Jerez, the Yamaha team moves its Test team to Malaysia, to test in December with Andrea Doviziosowhich will, among other things, put the new V4 engine from Iwata on the track for the first time.
