Tottenham were the big winners of Saturday's football action

With the November international break in the rearview mirror, the Premier League returned with a bang.

It seems like the race for the top four takes a new twist every week, and Saturday was no different.

The result of the day clearly belonged to Ange Postecoglou and his Tottenham side as they beat Manchester City at the Etihad.

It was the first time in Pep Guardiola's coaching career that he lost five games in a row, as James Maddison, Pedro Porro and Brennan Johnson all got on the scoresheet

Chelsea beat Leicester City 2-1 despite former Watford striker Troy Deeney believing in it prevents them from being a legitimate title contender.

Ethan Nwaneri became Arsenal's in the Gunners' 3-0 win against Nottingham Forest.

Brentford's defensive unit will be a happy camp as they held on to a narrow 0-0 draw against Everton despite being reduced to 10 men in the 41st minute.

The goalless result was the Bees' first clean sheet of the season and Brentford boss Thomas Frank hopes they can continue that trend going forward.

Aston Villa twice had to come from behind to salvage a 2-2 draw against Crystal Palace, with Eagles goalkeeper Dean Henderson saving a first-half penalty from Youri Tielemans.

Wolves manager Gary O'Neil was given a reprieve as his side beat Fulham 4-1 at Craven Cottage, while Brighton continued their impressive form this season with a 2-1 win over Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium.

Here, talkSPORT duo Jamie O'Hara and Jason Cundy reveal their winners and losers from Saturday's Game Day Phone-In!

winner

Matheus Cunha

The Brazilian striker has made the list again after his impressive performance against Fulham.

The 25-year-old scored twice for Wolves, helping Gary O'Neil's side to a much-needed 4-1 win at Craven Cottage.

“Top, top player. He’s back,” O’Hara said.

Cundy continued: “This is a player that some of the big dogs will be seriously eyeing.”

“He’s fast, he’s direct, he scores goals. He was outstanding today.”

Fabian Hurzeler

Brighton secured three vital points with a 2-1 win over Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium.

Despite finishing the game with 10 players, the Seagulls are going strong in the Premier League.

“Fifth in the table, another great result,” said O’Hara. “They have 22 points, they are flying.

Cundy added: “You’re not going anywhere, mate. You are here to stay. You’ll be a nuisance.”

“Only time will tell whether they have enough to hold on until the end of the season as a team and a football club that has consistently moved in the right direction over the last five years.

“Potter started, De Zerbi took over and brought them forward. And now Hurzeler has done exactly the same job. Every manager seems to be pushing them back forward.”

“The recruitment of Bloom and everyone else at Brighton, both on the pitch and in the dugout, is simply remarkable.”

James Madison

The Tottenham midfielder was the star of the show in the shock 4-0 win over Man City at the Etihad Stadium.

“He scored two goals today, he answered his critics,” said O'Hara.

“He came under a bit of pressure, lost his place in the England squad, didn’t play and was dragged out week in week out.

“But he has shown a top performance so far. No matter how this game ends, he deserves to be there.”

“Last year was difficult,” Cundy added. “I picked up the injury against Chelsea a year ago and really struggled to get back into shape.”

“Two goals won’t hurt him, so congratulations to him.”

loser

Pep Guardiola

While Maddison was the star, Guardiola will be left licking his wounds after another Premier League defeat.

Defeat for Man City means they are five points off the top having played a game more than Liverpool, who face Southampton on Sunday.

O'Hara said: “Five on the go. He must be included in the losers list. You’re having a nightmare!”

“You’re having a terrible, terrible time,” Cundy continued.

“I know they have injuries. But no one will feel sorry for City. No one.”

“Kovacic is out, I understand that. If they get everyone back, we know City are a force to be reckoned with.”

Everton

Sean Dyche's side were dominant against Brentford but failed to get over the finish line.

Everton had 27 shots and 60 per cent possession but managed just five on target – leading to them playing out a 0-0 draw against the 10-man Bees on a frustrating afternoon.

O'Hara said: “27 shots, under 10 men against Brentford and they still can't score.”

“You can’t hit a barn door. Seriously, I could put a goat forward and he would score. Seriously, it’s embarrassing.”

“They just exist. They don't live, they just exist. You have to go in there,” Cundy added.

Tom Brady

O'Hara perhaps harshly described the NFL legend as one of his losers after a poor result for Birmingham City.

While the Blues shareholder was in fourth place in League One with several games to play, he was recalled by the former Tottenham star.

O'Hara said: “Birmingham is high, doing well. He only lost one game before.”

They played Shrewsbury – 23rd Shrewsbury. What could go wrong?

“I’ll tell you what can go wrong. Shrewsbury can beat them. It's a bad day at the office. But if you have to endure the Tom Brady praise, you also have to endure the criticism. You're a loser!” “
