Ishan Kishan will appear for a new franchise from the 2025 edition of the Indian Premier League to which the young wicketkeeper-batter was sold Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) for Rs 11.25 crore, 26% less than its Rs 15.25 crore price Mumbai Indians in the 2022 auction.
Mumbai Indians started bidding for Kishan at his pace price of Rs 2 crore but did not go beyond Rs 3.20 crore. The Delhi Capitals, who were looking for a wicketkeeper-batter after Rishabh Pant was not retained, were in an intense bidding war with the Punjab Kings before SRH came into the game late and secured his services.
Wicketkeeper-batter was signed by Mumbai Indians for Rs 15.25 crore in the 2022 IPL mega auction and the youngster has been with them ever since. He was not included in the five contracts announced last month when the franchise decided to move on Hardik PandyaSuryakumar Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Rohit Sharma and Tilak Varma as her five favorites.
Ishan is an explosive top hitter and has been playing in the league since the 2016 edition. His best year was the 2020 edition where he scored 516 runs at a very good average of 57.33. In the last 12 months, the youngster lost his central contract and his place in the Indian teams, but he endured the hardships in the domestic league and was included in the India A squad for the last two matches against Australia A. Before that, Kishan played domestic team matches for Jharkhand and also played the IPL for Mumbai Indians.
