Stroud, the offensive rookie of the year who led the Texans to the division title last season, looks the other way. He's missing throws that fans have become accustomed to, communication with receivers is broken, and the offense continues to sputter in the second half of games.

There's plenty of blame to go around, and Stroud threw some strong shots in the second half, but his accuracy has declined as a sophomore.

At the end of the first half, Stroud and John Metchie III were not on the same page, resulting in an interception. Stroud wanted Metchie to keep running while the former Alabama wideout settled in the zone.

A couple of times in the second half Stroud stopped in a muddy pocket and made a rash throw that Kenneth Murray intercepted.

Houston needs its second-year signal-caller to rediscover the magic of his rookie year in hopes of salvaging one of his four years on a rookie contract, which is the most valuable time to develop a young franchise quarterback.
