Just a few days later Zion Williamson decided, separate paths with his representatives at CAA, a second Pelicans Star is also changing agencies. Sources tell Will Guillory and Kelly Iko of The Athletic Brandon Ingram leaves Excel Sports Management (Twitter link).
Both RealGM And HoopsHype had Ingram's agents listed as Jeff Schwartz And Jordan Gertler. It is not yet known which agency Ingram will join, but he will have to wait 15 days before he can hire a new representative.
This is certainly an interesting development as the former All-Star forward is set to enter unrestricted free agency in 2025. Ingram reportedly sought a maximum salary extension over the offseason, but the Pelicans were unwilling to offer it. His name then came up in trade rumors, but apparently he's still with New Orleans – his contract demands likely contributed to the move not happening.
Ingram will earn about $36 million in the final season of his contract in 2024-25.
Ingram, the second overall pick in the 2016 draft, is in his sixth season with the Pelicans, who acquired him from the Lakers in 2016 Anthony Davis trade in 2019. In 16 games this season, the 27-year-old averaged 22.9 PPG, 5.8 RPG and 5.4 APG on .465/.364/.830 shooting for 33.7 MPG.
Although Ingram was very productive during his time in New Orleans, injuries were also a problem, as he missed at least ten games in each of his five full seasons with the Pelicans, who were once again plagued by ailments at the start of 24/25. The club currently sits in last place in the Western Conference with a record of 4-13.
