‘We can’t allow boxing to be exploited, pimped out by garbage’

Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson

boxing is being exploited by the recent period of showdowns and disagreements following the controversial Mike Tyson fight in Texas.

That's the view of respected boxing trainer Kevin Cunningham, who was pleased to see David Benavidez and David Morrell take center stage earlier this week. Benavidez and Morrell took part in a press conference to promote the hottest light heavyweight fight of 2025 so far, which will be broadcast live on Prime Video Pay Per View early next year.

While Benavidez and Morrell trash-talked during the event, Cunningham expressed his views after Tyson faced off against a 31-year-old YouTuber on November 15th.

Cunningham said: “It’s time to get back to real boxing. There's nothing better than watching a fight between two elite fighters. We can't allow our sport and pimped up by . Only the best against the best!”

In a recent social media post, Floyd Mayweather called Benavidez vs. Morrell “the best card of 2025,” while boxing fans can look forward to the imminent prospect of the rematch between Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury.

Aside from Tyson's comeback, boxing is in full swing and several big matchups are on the horizon as Canelo, Gervonta Davis, Dmitry Bivol, Artur Beterbiev and Shakur Stevenson are close to announcing their next fights.

Given the events in Saudi Arabia, the resurgence of PBC and the rise of Netflix as a boxing prospect, the sky is the limit for the sport in 2025.

The shenanigans in Texas mean nothing in the cold light and will be swept aside as soon as they're over, especially after the product continues to disappoint. The same cannot be said when real boxing hits the red zone, as Beterbiev proved against Bivol just a few weeks ago.

Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano will also be a significant trilogy if they are secured in the coming months, assuming the previous headliner can stop himself from taking the shine off the bout.

Luckily, boxing fans can look forward to months of great fights and attractions until the circus starts again with the hideous abominations that will be created this time.
