Dillian Whyte believes Tyson Fury needs to change his approach to have a chance of revenge against Oleksandr Usyk in the rematch.
Fury and Usyk will meet for the second time in Riyadh on December 21, seven months after the Ukrainian suffered defeat Split decision win to win the undisputed heavyweight championship.
Whyte, who suffered a stoppage defeat in the sixth round “The Gypsy King”. in April 2022 insists his former rival must implement game plans similar to those that saw him emerge victorious against Steve Cunningham and Deontay Wilder.
“Tyson Fury is either in front or behind,” said the 36-year-old talkSPORT Boxing.
“But Usyk seems to be able to do both in a split second.”
“He can go back, forward and switch.”
“It's very difficult but I believe Fury still has a chance of beating him because Fury is the much bigger man and has the size advantage.”
“I think he should fight him like he fought Deontay Wilder the second time around.”
“I think this is his only chance [of beating him].
“There are risks, but he has to suppress it.
“Fight him like he fought Steve Cunningham, he must try to fight Usyk.”
“Get dirty and try it.”
Fury suffered the first professional defeat of his 36-fight career, losing his WBC heavyweight title in the process.
Usyk relinquished the IBF belt, now held by Daniel Dubois, to secure a second match with Fury, with the WBA 'Super', WBO and WBC belts at stake in the rematch.
Whyte, who returns to the ring for the first time since March when he takes on Ebenezer Tetteh in Gibraltar on December 15, insists Fury cannot be written off completely.
“It’s a very difficult task,” the Brixton man added.
“It’s heavyweight boxing.
A
“You can't write him off and say, 'He's going to lose again,' because he's been on the screen so many times and then gotten up and won.”
“He had rematches.
“He got counted out and came back and got back to the top of the game.”
