Keyshawn Davis continued his rise toward his first world title when he fell in the second round to strong Argentinian Gustavo Lemos on Friday at Scope Arena in Norfolk, Virginia.

Lemos outweighed six pounds over the lightweight limitand was even heavier on fight night, but that didn't matter as Davis secured a ruthless victory.

Davis (12-0, 8 KOs) had previously made gradual progress to world level, earning an impressive sixth-round stoppage win over Jose Pedraza and one in 2024 big points win against Miguel Madueno in July.

Lemos (29-2, 19 KOs) was expected to give the 25-year-old rounds after suffering just one loss in his last outing. Richardson Hitchins a very good argumentwhich ultimately fell through a narrow decision.

The visitor tried to take advantage of that extra weight by throwing punches at “The Businessman” in the opening round, but Davis used speed and accuracy to nullify him.

The message was on the wall and Davis immediately ended the show, landing combinations and then a sharp right hand punch to the head that landed the 28-year-old on the canvas for a third time and the contest was over.

The win for Davis cements his lofty position on three of the four governing bodies and the Norfolk native nominated both WBO champion Denys Berinchyk and WBA titlist Gervonta Davis.
