Tyson Fury has admitted he would like to see former opponent Deontay Wilder hang up.
Fury and Wilder enjoyed an epic trilogy from 2018 to 2021, with the Brit scoring back-to-back wins after a controversial draw in their first meeting.
“The Bronze Bomber” has since looked like a shell of his former self in losses to Joseph Parker and Zhilei Zhang Emphasizing termination of the fifth round.
Some observers believe his grueling fights with Fury have derailed the Alabama man's fight, and the consensus in the boxing world is that it's time for him to call it a day.
And keep talking Pound 4 Pound Podcast“The Gypsy King” revealed that he shared this view.
“To be honest I would like poor old Deontay to retire from boxing.
“Obviously he lost the three fights against me. We have cost each other many years of life.
“This war, which ended by knockout in the 11th round, puts a lot of strain on the tank and you never recover from such fights.
“Between me and Wilder there were ten defeats in our trilogy. It demands a lot from a fighter.
“Even when he came back and has had a few fights since then against Joseph Parker and Zhilei Zhang, he is a shadow of his former glory.
“All that’s left of Deontay is his name. And that's it. That’s why I want him to definitely retire before he harms himself.”

Despite calls for his retirement, Wilder is expected to carry on, with his coach Malik Scott confirming he is targeting big-money showdowns Anthony Joshua and Francis Ngannou.
And while the American would undoubtedly be paid handsomely for both fights, one wonders whether the risk involved to his long-term health is worth taking the risk.
