IND vs OFF: A hectic day of breathless cricket action at Optus Stadium in Perth. On Western Australia's fast and supportive tracks, points were settled between Indian and Australian pacers.

India are a completely different side for the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy with a new captain and the absence of their highly experienced batsmen Rohit and Gill. Unsuitable playing conditions prevented two more experienced players, Ravi Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja, from the starting eleven, while India came in with a fairly inexperienced squad.

However, when the skipper decided to bat first and comparatively experienced top batters KL Rahul and Virat Kohli were dismissed early, it was this newly inducted debutant who took the lead Nitish Kumar Reddy alongside Pant, who gave the Indian innings the solidarity it needed.

Thanks to the helping hands of Nitish Kumar Reddy and Rishabh Pant, India managed to score a respectable 150 in their first innings in the difficult batting conditions. Starc, Cummins and Marsh picked two wickets each, while Hazelwood remained first choice among bowlers with four wickets.

Danger looms over Australia as Australia is still yet to reach the lowest score Australia has ever achieved in Tests against India. Australia ended the first day with a score of 67/7 with Alex Carey at No.1. 7 beats No. 9 alongside Mitchell Starc.

shared the new ball along with DSP Siraj for the Indian team as the captain turned the tables for India with three important wickets up front. Debutant McSweeney, Khawaja and veteran batsman Steve Smith were dismissed for a golden duck by Bumrah in his first outing.

While Harshit Rana picked his first international wicket in the form of Travis Head, Australia's informed batsman. Siraj put the icing on the cake with the wickets of Marsh and Labushcagne, who acted like a brick wall for the Australian innings with his defensive work rate.

Bumrah's final wicket of his third term included Pat Cummins, leaving Australia seven wickets behind on the first day. A great outing for the bowlers as 17 wickets were picked on the first day, all by pacers.
