IND vs OFF: Indian skipper who won the World Cup and his wife Ritika Sajdeh gave birth to their second child on November 15. As per reports, Rohit and his family expected the delivery to take place just before the test match dates in Perth, which meant the captain would miss the Perth Test.
Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly Recently, he appeared for an interview in which he revealed many facts related to the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and also touched on the leadership role.
He wanted Rohit Sharma's presence in the Perth Test as Ganguly said that India would need Rohit Sharma, the captain, to play the first Test as India would feel a strong urge from his leadership. He said Sharma should now travel to Perth as soon as possible as his second child was born long before the first Test.
“I hope Rohit Sharma leaves very soon because the team needs leadership. I think his wife gave birth to a baby boy last night, so I'm sure he'll be able to go. He can leave as early as possible and if I were him he should play in the Perth Test.”

India struggled early with the likes of Rohit Sharma set to miss the opening Test as reports suggest Rohit will be back with the Indian team from the second Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
India suffered another major setback when Shubman Gill was ruled out of the first Test in Perth due to his thumb injury in training. Abhimanyu Easwaran has been named as the new addition to India's BGT squad and KL Rahul is also seen as an ideal player for the number one spot.
According to recent reports, Devdutt Padikkal has been asked to stay in Australia as a replacement for the Indian team after completing his stint with the Indian A team.
For now, reports have confirmed that Jasprit Bumrah will be seen in the role of India's Test captain in the first Test in Perth due to the unavailability of Rohit Sharma. While Nitish Kumar Reddy is expected to make his debut in the first Test.
