IND vs OFF: Legendary Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah is all set to captain the Indian team for the first time in the longest format of the game. In the absence of captain Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, the vice-captain, took over the role.
Rohit Sharma, who will miss the first Test in Perth scheduled for November 22, will be available for the second game in Adelaide. Till then, Bumrah will lead the Indian team and KL Rahul may take over as the Indian opener and replace the captain.
During a press statement, the captain hinted at this Mohammad Shamiis a possible return to the Indian side amid the BGT. Shami was previously one of the most experienced bowlers for India on Australian soil, with 31 wickets to his name with the red ball.
Even Indian bowling coach Morne Morkel has earlier made it clear that the Indian management is keeping a close eye on the pace maestro and might look to bring him in in the second half of the series, which may be ahead of the Boxing Day Test at the MCG.
Shami recently returned to red-ball cricket with an appearance in the Ranji Trophy for Bengal against Madhya Pradesh. Shami took seven wickets in the two innings in the game and also scored a quick 37* runs in the game which Bengal won.

India may have Ravichandran Ashwin as their only spinner as the legend was India's leading spinner although his records in the island nation do not seem to be very impressive.
While reports suggest that Harshit Rana and Nitish Kumar Reddy could make their debut for India in the longest format of the game; However, apart from these two, skipper Jasprit Bumrah will have either Prasidh Krishna or Mohammad Siraj sharing the new ball at the Optus Stadium.
