Indian cricket team's young opening batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal has created history in Test cricket. By hitting two big sixes in the second innings of the ongoing Perth Test match against Australia, the youngster broke the record of scoring the highest number of sixes in the Test cricket calendar year.
This record was previously set by former New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum, but now Jaiswal has overtaken him. At the end of the second day of play, the 22-year-old was unbeaten in the middle with a score of 90* runs in 193 deliveries and was firmly at the crease along with his fellow opener KL Rahul (62 runs in 153 deliveries).
Yashasvi has now overtaken McCullum
Jaiswal has hit a total of 34 big sixes so far in the 2024 Test cricket year, while Brendon McCullum has hit 33 maximums in the calendar year of the game's longest format in 2014.
Such as (26 sixes in 2022) and Adam Gilchrist (22 sixes in 2006) are also part of this list at positions three and four. India's legendary batsman Virender Sehwag (22 sixes in 2008) is also in the top five, joint fourth with Gilchrist.
