Shaheen Shah Afridi, the team's elite left-armer, rose to the top spot in the ICC Men's One Day International (ODI) bowling rankings on Wednesday, November 13.
Afridi, who struck out eight batters at a superb average of 12.62 in the Green Shirts' historic One Day International Series victory over the Mighty Australians, jumped three places from the fourth position to replace South Africa's slow left-arm orthodox spinner Keshav Maharaj the top of the rankings.
Maharaj has dropped two places to third, while Afghanistan's elite leg-spinner Rashid Khan continues to hold the second spot.
Shaheen has been number one in the past and was at the top of the bowling charts during the 2023 ODI Men's World Cup in India.
His compatriot and bowling partner Haris Rauf, who was named Man of the Series in Pakistan's 2-1 series win over the Kangaroos, also saw improvements in his ODI rankings, jumping 14 places to 13th place is the highest of his career in the 50-over format.
Naseem Shah's ranking also improved, moving up 14 places to joint 55th.
Following Shaheen's rise to the top of the rankings, Pakistan's dominance has increased as both the batting and bowling rankings are held by players from the Shaheens, with Babar Azam continuing his dominance at the top of the ODI batting rankings.
The 29-year-old extended his lead at the top of the order over the Indian cricket Team trio Shubman Gill, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli thanks to the 80 runs he scored in the three ODI matches against Australia in which he was eliminated on just one occasion.
Mohammad Rizwan, Pakistan's newly appointed limited-overs skipper, has also moved up the ODI rankings, moving up two places to 23rd position after scoring 74 runs in three games against the Australians.
On the other hand, Afghanistan cricket Team's leading spin-bowling all-rounder Mohammad Nabi, who will retire from the 50-over format after the conclusion of the 2025 Champions Trophy, continues to dominate the ODI all-rounders rankings. The veteran is followed in the rankings by Zimbabwe's Sikandar Raza and his teammate Rashid Khan.
