Only two men have a chance of claiming the season-long DP World Tour crown, but that doesn't mean the other 48 have nothing to play for this week at the 2024 DP World Tour Championship. For the second year in a row, Rory McIlroy has a big lead in the Race to Dubai standings heading into the season finale, with South African Thirston Lawrence standing in the Northern Irishman's way to a third straight Race to Dubai title and the sixth of his career.
The pair will compete over four days on Jumeirah golf Estates' Earth Course as the others try to secure their own prizes. England's Tommy Fleetwood and Tyrrell Hatton have continued their strong summers into the autumn months and are looking to complete outstanding campaigns in 2024.
Joaquin Niemann and Adrian Meronk join Hatton as players playing golf primarily on LIV to reach the European final, while PGA Tour members such as Billy Horschel, Robert MacIntyre, Adam Scott and Justin Rose also plan to be there . By the end of the week, not only will a season champion and tournament winner be crowned, but also ten new PGA Tour members.
Those who finish in the top 10 in the Race to Dubai and are not otherwise exempt will retain their U.S. playing rights for 2025. Lawrence is the headliner of this group of players, which currently includes Rasmus Højgaard, Matteo Manassero and Jordan Smith, among others like Tom McKibbin and Guido Migliozzi hopes to play through to the cut-off point.
