PGA Tour star Brian Harman entered the RSM Classic this week in a anything but relaxed mood. Harman told reporters that a family friend had been in a coma for six weeks after trying to save Harman's six-year-old son from drowning. The incident occurred last month during a family trip to the Ponte Vedra Inn & Club in Florida.

Harman shared that his son Walter was boogie boarding in the ocean when he was swept out to sea by a current, prompting family friend Cathy Dowdy to chase him to rescue him. Dowdy was unsuccessful, but the good Samaritan crane Cantrell also went into the water and was able to save Harman's son.

According to the St. John's CitizenDowdy was brought to shore by a lifeguard before performing CPR on her. Dowdy was subsequently taken to the Mayo Clinic in critical condition.

“She's been in a coma for six weeks now and obviously our world down here was kind of turned upside down,” Harman said during a news conference. “For everything we went through and how terrible it was [Dowdy’s family] Mike, Christina and Nicole, they are family to us and we are with them until the end. And I appreciate everyone who helped us along the way. You know, prayers for Cathy.

To support Dowdy's recovery, a GoFundMe page has been set up and has raised nearly $85,000 as of November 21st.
