Tony Finau plans to play golf on the PGA Tour in 2025, the six-time winner confirmed Golf week. Finau withdrew from the 2024 Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas this week and has been the subject of rumors about the possibility of joining LIV golf in the new year.
“They're not true… I'm more than happy with where I'm at on the PGA Tour and I'm looking forward to 2025,” Finau said. “If I tee off on Maui, everything will go away, so I’m not worried about that at all.”
The 35-year-old has been a card-carrying member of the PGA Tour since 2015, when he first secured his status. With six trophies and multiple spots on multiple U.S. Presidents Cup and Ryder Cup teams, Finau has become one of the most popular figures in the game.
Although he maintains close relationships with LIV Golf members such as Jon Rahm and Brooks Koepka, Finau will remain and only compete against his colleagues at the major championships four times a year. He will do well to compete in these championships as Finau revealed that he recently underwent surgery on his left knee to repair a torn meniscus and remove cartilage, which was the reason he opted out of the Tiger Woods- Event withdrew.
“According to what my doctor told me, it was a completely normal cleaning,” Finau listed. “He said it would be helpful, so I did it.”
Finau competed in 22 events during the 2024 season and achieved three top-five finishes, including a podium finish at the US Open. The total represents the fewest number of appearances he has managed in a single season in his career as the PGA Tour reverts to a calendar year.
“The last few seasons have been pretty hard on my knees,” Finau said. “I am optimistic that I will be healthier than ever next season.”
