Paul defeated by unanimous decision in an eight-round headliner during Friday night's Paul vs. Tyson event on Netflix. Fans won't be watching the fight again, but it earned the 58-year-old a big payday. After the fight, Ngannou reacted to Paul's win on Twitter, jokingly saying that he would slap Paul the next time he sees him, while Paul responded that he might be the current UFC heavyweight champion is “ultimately the better heavyweight”.
Ngannou was asked about his interest in a fight with Paul, and the PFL Superfights champion shrugged.
“No, no, no, no, come on, don’t be silly,” Ngannou said .
“Maybe, if we say [Jake and ] in the cage, maybe there is something to do there. Come on, respect me a little.
Ngannou returned to MMA in October, where he quickly defeated an up-and-coming heavyweight in the PFL main event .
Both Ngannou and Paul hold leadership positions within the PFL and have publicly supported each other in recent years. The former UFC heavyweight champion continues to defend Paul regarding the setback suffered by the 27-year-old's fight with Tyson.
“Remember, we make entertainment and they were on Netflix,” Ngannou said. “When you subscribe to Netflix, you go there for entertainment, and if that's not entertainment, I don't know what you're looking for. … It was entertaining whether you like it or not. It was a curiosity to see: Man, Mike Tyson at his age, can he take it? They entertained. So it's work food for him, for her.
“I mean, obviously they're breaking the system. Many people will not be happy. It's more like a freelancer who doesn't belong to any institution and then like people [don’t] i like it. …
“Any time you go against institutions you have to expect a hit, but that doesn’t mean you’re doing something wrong.”
