plans to become UFC welterweight champion again as soon as possible.

Edwards lost the title in the main event of in July, Edwards' title reign ended after two defenses. The fight was pretty one-sided for Muhammad, and now that he's no longer the champion, “Rocky” can focus on going after him for the second time.

“My goal right now is to get the belt back,” Edwards said on MyProtein . “I want to become champion by the end of next year – around this time next year, so I’m in the process of taking the necessary steps.”

In one of the most memorable title wins in UFC history, Edwards captured the title with a stunning head kick that knocked him out in the last minute of – a fight that Usman won handily – in August 2022. The 33-year-old defeated Usman a second time at seven months later and then dominated over five rounds last December to reach a unanimous decision.

The loss to Muhammad was the first for Edwards since he made a bad decision in his first fight against Usman at UFC on Fox 17 in December 2015. Edwards is certainly not used to losing fights in the octagon.

“For me it's more about what's next and how to get back to where you want to be. My goal is to become a two-time world champion.”
