Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic meet at Madison Square Garden, a year after their long overdue dream match was supposed to take place. The UFC heavyweight title is on the line as two of the promotion's most dominant champions collide in their potential swansongs UFC 309 on Saturday.
Jones and Miocic are the most successful UFC light heavyweight and heavyweight champions, respectively. Jones moved up a division and captured the heavyweight title last year. Now 37 years old, he is defending his heavyweight title for the first time against the division's most decorated champion, 42-year-old Miocic. Both men have suggested they would retire in New York City. A five-round co-main event between Charles Oliveira and Michael Chandler is also planned. Oliveira defeated Chandler back in 2021 to win the vacant lightweight title.
A week later the campaign goes to Macau, China. The focus of the card is a meeting of former champions who are about to fight for the title. Former bantamweight champion Petr Yan takes on former flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo at 135 pounds. The winner will land behind Umar Nurmagomedov and possibly Sean O'Malley on the shortlist of title contenders.
UFC 310's main event is in disarray after welterweight champion Belal Muhammad suffered a bone infection. His scheduled title challenger Shavkat Rakhmonov now has no opponent for the December 7th card.
