The organizers of the Croatia Rally announced that they had obtained the necessary government guarantees to prepare for their return to the country. . The asphalt event debuted in the 2021 season and quickly became a modern classic hosting four editions, before losing his place for 2025.
The campaign program in fourteen rounds was announced last July, and the arrival of three new nominations was confirmed, with the Canary Islands, Paraguay and Saudi Arabia. The championship organizer was in talks to renew its agreement with a three-year contract, but those responsible for the Croatian competition were unable to obtain support and guarantees from the local government.
Plan “B” was to host a round of the European Rally championship in 2025 and attempt to secure a place on the WRC calendar for 2026 and 2027and this was something that was doubtful, since the politicians delayed sending the relevant documents. However, event organizers have announced that its future is assured and that it is expected to reach an agreement with the highest category.
In an official statement, officials indicated that “all the necessary documentation to host the ERC and WRC from 2025 to 2027” has been assembled and that in “the coming days, the official signing of the agreement between the organizers of the Croatia Rally and the championship promoter, followed by the start of preparations.
The president of the Croatian test organizing committee, Daniel Saskinsaid: “In 2025 we will carry the ERC, then, in 2026 and 2027, the Croatian Rally will return. We thank all institutions for their support, especially the Government of the Republic of Croatia and the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, which recognized the value of this automotive event for the country.”
“From today, together with the WRC promoter and our local partners, counties and municipalities, we begin negotiations on the preparation and execution of the event. We thank the city of Zagreb and the Croatian Motorsport and Karting Association for their continued support as important partners in these events,” he continued.
The WRC promoter, who is also responsible for the ERC, is still working on next year's calendar, which is expected to feature eight rounds including the Ceredigion Wales Rally.
