Bengals make surprise lineup changes vs Steelers

The Cincinnati Bengals made two big changes to the starting lineup before kickoff in Week 13 against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Along the offensive line, the Bengals benched Cordell Volson and instead had Cody Ford in the lineup at left guard. Ford has been playing left tackle in recent weeks due to injury, but is more suited to playing defense.

At least in the trenches, the idea is to fix some of the problems that have plagued the line while allowing pressure in the middle.

And in the defensive secondary, Jordan Battle was the starter ahead of Vonn Bell. It's been more of a rotation throughout the season, but Battle is now taking complete control.

Both moves walk a line between the Bengals trying to make changes that will help them win now — while also giving them a chance to evaluate problematic positions before the offseason.
