If the Mavericks keep playing like this, they will increase their record to 10-8 in no time. On the other hand, the Hawks will have to settle for a 7-11 record unless they turn things around (and quickly).

What you should know
After playing just yesterday, the Dallas Mavericks will face the Atlanta Hawks on Monday at 7:30 p.m. ET at State Farm Arena. The Mavericks are expected to lose this game by 3.5 points, so we'll see if that gives them a little motivation.
The Mavericks fought well in their overtime match against the Heat on Sunday, but ended up with a less than desirable result. They suffered a 123-118 loss to Miami. Dallas' loss meant the end of their four-game winning streak.
Although they lost, the Mavericks smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. This strong performance was nothing new for the team: It has now grabbed at least 11 offensive rebounds in six consecutive games.
Meanwhile, the point spread may have been in the Hawks' favor last Friday, but the final result was not. The game between them and the Bulls wasn't a total blowout, but with the Hawks losing 136-122 on the road, it was damn close to being one. Atlanta hasn't had much luck with Chicago lately, as the team has come up short in the last two meetings.
Despite their loss, the Hawks had several players rise to the challenge and make notable plays. Trae Young, who posted a double-double with 25 points and 13 assists, was perhaps the best of them all. Young had some trouble finding his footing against the Warriors on Wednesday, so this was a step in the right direction. Another player who made a difference was Jalen Johnson, who posted a double-double with 25 points and 13 rebounds.
Dallas' loss dropped their record to 9-8. As for Atlanta, the loss dropped their record to 7-10.
Monday's game is shaping up to be a heated duel: The Mavericks haven't given up the ball easily this season, averaging just 12.5 turnovers per game. Things are different for the Hawks, however, as they have an average of 15.5. Given the Mavericks' significant advantage in this area, the Hawks must find a way to close this gap.
The Mavericks strolled past the Hawks by a score of 109-95 when the teams last played in April. The rematch could be a little more difficult for the Mavericks as the team will not have home field advantage this time. We'll see if the change of venue makes a difference.
