What you should know
After playing just yesterday, the Brooklyn Nets will take on the Chicago Bulls at the United Center on Monday at 8:00 p.m. ET. The Nets want to continue their three-game series away from home.
The Nets entered this game after oddsmakers set last week's low over/under at 206.5, but even that ended up being too high. On Sunday they lost to the Magic 100-92. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Brooklyn in their matchups with Orlando: They have now lost five straight.
Given the score, it was perhaps unsurprising that the Nets struggled to cooperate, finishing the game with just 19 assists. That's the fewest assists they've posted since April.
While the score was 67-67 at halftime, the Bulls weren't quite on par with the Celtics in the second half on Friday. They suffered a 138-129 loss to Boston. Even though they lost, Chicago still turned up the heat on offense, increasing their scoring average to 118.5 points per game (they now rank fourth in total points).
The losing side was bolstered by Nikola Vucevic, who shot 6-9 from distance and recorded a double-double with 32 points and 11 rebounds. His performance made up for the slower game against the Magic on Wednesday.
Brooklyn's loss dropped their record to 9-12. As for Chicago, they haven't been great lately, as the team has lost three of its last four games, putting a noticeable dent in its 8-13 record this season.
Keep an eye on the arc in Monday's contest: The Nets have made it easy to hit deep shots this season, averaging 15.4 three-pointers per game. However, it's not like the Bulls have any problems in this regard, as their average is 16.4. Given these competing strengths, it will be interesting to see how their clash unfolds.
The Nets defeated the Bulls 120-112 in their last game in November. One of the team's biggest obstacles in this game was Vucevic, who posted a double-double with 28 points and 11 rebounds.
