Mid-term report
There are only two quarters left between the Magic and the victory they should get tonight. After two quarters, a win is still on the line for both teams, but the Magic are ahead of the Pistons 56-53. This fight is much closer than the previous duel between the two, which was decided by 22 points.
If the Magic keep this up, they will increase their record to 11-7 in no time. On the other hand, the Pistons will have to settle for a 7-11 record unless they turn things around (and quickly).

What you should know
The Magic will play the entire four quarters on Saturday, but they are expected to have things taken care of long before then. They will host the Detroit Pistons at 7:00 pm ET at the Kia Center. The Magic will look to maintain their 14-game home winning streak from last season.
The Magic will enter Saturday's contest after (finally) defeating the Lakers, to whom they had lost 8-2 in their 10 previous meetings. The Magic prevailed over the Lakers 119-118 on Thursday, thanks to a game-winning shot from Franz Wagner with three seconds left in the fourth quarter.
Wagner was supernova for the Magic, posting a double-double with 37 points and 11 assists. The dominant performance gave Wagner a new career high in assists.
The Magic worked as a unit and finished the game with 31 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, the Pistons fought well in their overtime game against the Hornets on Thursday, but ended up with a less than desirable result. They fell just short of Charlotte with a score of 123-121. The close game was particularly heartbreaking for Detroit, which came close to erasing a 20-point deficit.
Despite their loss, the Pistons had several players rise to the challenge and make notable plays. Tobias Harris, who went 6-for-9 from long range for 26 points and eight rebounds, was perhaps the best of them all. Harris is trending in the right direction considering he has improved his scoring output in four straight games.
Orlando has been on an upswing of late: They have won seven of their last eight meetings, giving a huge boost to their 10-7 record this season. This is Detroit's second straight loss and their season record drops to 7-10.
The Magic earned their victory against the Pistons in their last match in March with a convincing 113-91. Will the Magic repeat their success or do the Pistons have a better game plan this time? We'll find out soon enough.
