I speak after another heartbreaking loss like his Cincinnati Bengals When the score fell to 4-7, Ja'Marr Chase mentioned head coach Zac Taylor's name.
And that says it all, right?
This is what Chase did when asked about finishing games after the loss to the Los Angeles Chargers.
“How do I do this?” Chase said loudly from The Athletic. “I don't know. Ask Zac. Ask the coaches. Don't ask me. It's not my job. I play football on the field. I don't call plays for us. So I can't really do nothing.”
On the one hand, Chase tends to do this when frustrated after a loss and generally defers to the head coach on larger matters.
But then again, it's those bigger things that are failing the Bengals. The squad construction over the last two years has been miserable and that also shows on the pitch.
And at this point, no one is immune from criticism or accountability – which explains during the game.
If the Bengals keep losing, Chase could be on to something here. There will of course be squad changes, but one can assume that an overhaul of the coaching staff is also imminent.
