What you should know
The Magic have five home games under their belt but will have to take off their away jerseys soon. They will face the Phoenix Suns on Monday at 9:00 pm ET at the Footprint Center. The Magic are expected to win (but not by a large margin), so they need to come into the match ready to fight.
The Magic are heading into this game after oddsmakers set last week's over/under low at 208.5, but even that ended up being too high. On Friday they defeated the 76ers by a score of 98-86.
The Magic can attribute much of their success to Franz Wagner, who posted a double-double with 31 points and 11 rebounds. The game was Wagner's third straight with at least 30 points.
Although they won, the Magic had difficulty cooperating and finished the game with just 15 assists. That's the fewest assists they've posted since March.
Meanwhile, the Suns' recent rough patch got a little more difficult on Sunday after their third straight loss. They lost 120-117 to the Timberwolves on a last-minute shot by Julius Randle. The loss hurts even more because Phoenix had a 38-22 lead with 10:32 left in the second round.
Despite the loss, the Suns had a top-notch performance from Devin Booker, who scored 44 points along with seven assists and six rebounds. Booker had some trouble finding his footing against the Thunder on Friday, so this was a step in the right direction.
Orlando's victory was its 14th straight home win since last season, improving its record to 8-6. As for Phoenix, the loss dropped their record to 9-5.
The Magic strolled past the Suns by a score of 113-98 when the teams last played in January. One of the team's biggest obstacles in this game was Booker, who was 17-for-26 en route to 44 points plus two blocks. Now that he has a second chance to win this match, will the Magic still be able to contain bookers? There's only one way to find out.
