While Cincinnati Bengals Although quarterback Joe Burrow continues to play at an MVP level, there are still critics who blame him for the team's problems.
Take, for example, Shannon Sharpe, who and criticized Burrow for his turnovers during last week's loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
“If your defense can’t stop anyone,” Sharpe said, “then what can’t you do at the quarterback position?” Turn the ball over…he turns the ball over at the worst possible moment.”
The counterargument, of course, is that Burrow is doing everything he can to make plays while the squad is holding him back. During the loss, he lost two fumbles while his only interception was overturned.
At the end of the day, however, Burrow's 67.7 completion percentage, 30 touchdowns against five interceptions, and absolute pocket heroics would make him a likely MVP front-runner if he wasn't facing the worst defense in the league.
However, Sharpe does play a role, and the fact that Burrow literally has to play the perfect, best ball in the NFL at all times just for his team to win just highlights what a miserable job the Bengals have done in building around the star passer have accomplished.
