The latest Anthony Davis The injury was just a minor scare.
According to Davis, he is “doing fine” after being stabbed in the eye during Monday's game Dan Woike of the Los Angeles Times. It happened when he blocked a Toronto dunk attempt Jakob Pöltl.
The visit to the ophthalmologist went well, although there was still visible redness in the center of his eye afterwards Lakers Training on Tuesday. Davis says he will play against Memphis on Wednesday.
“Nothing happens next.” he said in regards to monitoring the eye injury. “I go about my days like any other day. I don't have to do anything. The next step is to get some more sleep and prepare for tomorrow.”
Davis is off to an MVP-caliber start, averaging 31.2 points and 10.4 rebounds per game. He missed a game last week with a heel injury.
Davis suffered a corneal abrasion in March after being stung during a game against Golden State. He wore goggles in practice on Tuesday but plans to remove them for Wednesday's game.
“I wore safety glasses. For three years when I was younger. I just don't want it, to be honest. he said. “Obviously the doctors said I didn’t need to do that. Well, if it gets to a point where a doctor has to prescribe it [wear them] …if it gets to the point where my eye doctor tells me I have to wear them, then of course I will. But I was given permission to go out and play without them.”
