The Buffalo Bills (9-2) entered Week 11 against the Kansas City Chiefs (9-1) hoping to become the first team this NFL season to defeat the Chiefs. Buffalo came in with a five-game winning streak in their back pocket to show how well they've been playing, but facing Kansas City is always a different beast.
The Bills managed to prevail against the Chiefs. thanks to some crucial plays in the fourth quarter, including from star Bills quarterback Josh Allen, who iced the game with an incredible hit 26-yard touchdown run in the last minutes of the game. Buffalo had to do its best to overcome the play of Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who threw three touchdowns in the contest to make things interesting.
Allen had to do what he could to drive the offense as players like running back James Cook struggled to control the football against the Chiefs' stout run defense, and Allen showed up when Buffalo needed him most.
Here is the one Bill's Wire's Stock market report after Sunday's win over the Chiefs:
Stock up: QB Josh Allen
Allen, as was asked of him in previous seasons, did everything he could to drive the offense as Kansas City shut down Cook and shut down the running game as the contest wore on. Thanks to the way Allen threw the ball, four different players had at least 40 yards rushing in an offense that had been equal opportunity since the start of the season, and that was without rookie wide receiver Keon Coleman (wrist).
Stock Down: RB James Cook
As mentioned above, Cook struggled to pass the ball against the Chiefs in this game, but he wasn't the only running back who didn't show up. Cook had nine of Buffalo's 31 carries, but for every player who ran the ball other than Allen, no one averaged more than 3.6 yards per carry, a far cry from the Bills' performance this season.
Stepping up: LB Terrel Bernard
Bernard has been one of the best players on Buffalo's defense in some time, and Sunday showed just how impactful he can be, especially against someone like Mahomes, who can light you up in a matter of seconds if you make the wrong move. Not only did Bernard get to Mahomes for his first sack of the season, but he also made some crucial tackles and even broke up a pass to show how much he was flying all over the field.
Not to mention, Bernard sealed the win with his late interception.
Stock Down: DE Greg Rousseau
While Rousseau has arguably been the most disruptive player on Buffalo's defensive line this season, that wasn't the case against the Chiefs. Rousseau managed to hit Mahomes twice, but that was all he managed in that game, although the attention he drew allowed players like Bernard and Von Miller to get close to Mahomes over the course of that contest.
Stepping up: WR Curtis Samuel
Samuel largely plays no role in Buffalo's offense, giving the ball to whoever is open on a given play. However, Sunday was a great day for Samuel as he had the most receiving yards in a game this season, collected the most receptions in a game, and caught his first touchdown of the season to boot.
Stock Down: WR Mack Hollins
As is the nature of Buffalo's offense, there will be someone who takes a backseat, and on Sunday that was Hollins.
Hollins is more of a deep threat than anything else, and since the Chiefs didn't want to get hit deep, he couldn't get much going in a game where Allen threw the ball 40 times.
