Former New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick has reportedly interviewed for the head coaching job at the University of North Carolina.
Per Belichick was among a group of candidates interviewed for the job since Mack Brown was fired on Nov. 26.
Other candidates included in the mix included Georgia defensive coordinator Glenn Schumann and Tulane coach Jon Sumrall.
Belichick parted ways with the Patriots back in January and former Patriots inside linebackers coach Jerod Mayo was hired as his replacement. The legendary coach failed to land a head coaching job in the 2024 NFL cycle.
It was always believed that he would work as a coach again. Most assumed it would be in the NFL considering he is just 15 wins away from breaking Don Schula's all-time wins record.
College football would be a completely different development for the 72-year-old coach. It's hard to imagine that the services of a six-time Super Bowl-winning head coach wouldn't be wanted everywhere.
