The New England Patriots announced this on Tuesday. In a related move, they also announced that they had excluded security guard Lester Cotton from the exemption.
Jordan has been a key part of the Patriots' offensive line this season. He started all 11 games at guard but struggled throughout the year. Coach Jerod Mayo acknowledged that there could be changes on offense following Sunday's blowout loss to the Miami Dolphins, and this appears to be one of those changes.
What does Cotton bring to the table?
The Alabama alum is a strong interior defender with nine NFL starts in his career. He played in 56 percent of the Miami Dolphins' offensive snaps last season.
There will certainly be opportunities for him on a Patriots roster that is consistently thin on the offensive front.
