Patriots QB Drake Maye joins elite company in unexpected category

New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye has joined an elite team in the running department.

According to the 33rd Team, the Patriots' rookie signal-caller has the highest yards per carry of any quarterback in a season since 2000. Maye has 9.1 yards per carry so far this season, surpassing the previous record holder, the former Atlanta Falcons and Philadelphia Eagles –quarterback Michael Vick, who had 8.5 yards per carry in 2013.

Vick also ranks third with 8.4 yards per carry in 2006. Maye currently has 38 carries for 345 yards and one touchdown this season.

Vick shaped a generation of rushing quarterbacks and set the standard for many years during his NFL run. If anything, a stat like this proves Maye is on the right track.
