quarterback Matthew Stafford and the Los Angeles Rams were ultimately too much for the New England Patriots .
The Patriots defense lost a total of 402 yards of offense as the unit completely faltered at Gillette Stadium. This wasn't the game-changing performance they showed last week when they sacked rookie quarterback Caleb Williams nine times at Soldier Field.
They couldn't even get ahold of Stafford this week.
Rookie quarterback Drake Maye continued to perform well on offense, but it was still disappointing to see him play behind a patchwork offensive line with limited weapons. The future looks bright with Maye under center, but this game reminded us that the Patriots still have a long way to go.
Here's what fans said on Twitter after the 28-22 loss to the Rams:
Drake Maye fantastic game.
The defense was outwitted. Unhappy.

The most undisciplined team I have ever seen, coaches included.

Yuck. If you allow 400+ yards and don't cause turnovers, it's going to be hard to win.

Last week was encouraging, but the Patriots' coaching is again deplorable.

Unfortunately, it doesn't surprise me that I don't get any training 😩😩😩

The offensive line is terrible. The defense was completely exhausted.
