Giants Brian Daboll not worried about job security amid lost season

New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll says he's not worried about his job despite posting an 8-21 record since the start of 2023.

“No,” Daboll said when asked if he was worried about his job following the Giants' 27-20 loss to the Dallas Cowboys on Thanksgiving Day.

“No, I don’t like the results. Nobody likes the results. But here too I have trust in the people. I just have to get better.”

The Giants are tied with the Las Vegas Raiders for the worst record in the NFL this season at 2-10. They are on the verge of taking the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft.

Last month, co-owner John Mara Daboll and general manager Joe Schoen expressed his confidence. Since that day, the team has continued to deteriorate and is now exhausted due to injuries.

The separation of quarterback Daniel Jones last week took a lot out of the organization, as did the setback caused by Saquon Barkley's success in Philadelphia.

Daboll can barely hold his own in the locker room and it seems every move he has made this season has backfired, starting with him taking over the offensive playbook.

Mara recently said there was no “appetite” for layoffs and stood by his opinion about Schoen and Daboll's job security, but the shot of him sitting all alone in a suite at AT&T Stadium on Thursday with that stern expression on his face, it told a different story.

The Giants are on their fifth head coach and third general manager since Tom Coughlin parted ways with the club following the 2015 season.

Nothing has changed. The layoffs had no impact on the team's performance. Although they have qualified for the postseason twice during that span, their overall regular season record is 50-92-1.
