Joe Schoen not that popular in Giants locker room at all

If New York Giants general manager Joe Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll want to keep their jobs after this season, they'll have to do two things: win some games and keep the locker room intact.

Both seem like a tall order at this point, especially after quarterback Daniel Jones was benched exasperated defense captain Dexter Lawrence.

The youngest Released cornerback Nick McCloud He also weakened the team on defense and special teams. Likewise, it didn't go down well in the locker room.

Jordan Raanan of ESPN, during in conversation with our friends Talkin' Giantsrevealed that cracks are beginning to form between the current regime and the players.

“I’ve talked to a lot of guys in the locker room and things like that bother them,” Raanan said of McCloud’s release. “The GM is not that popular in the locker room at all. So these things are important.”

The McCloud release, and particularly the way Schoen handled it, was not well received by several players. Raanan also pointed out that players like the contributions of Saquon Barkley and Darius Slayton.free man” comment that he later tried to explain and other examples are not a coincidence.

But the problems didn't start this season. Raanan points out that tensions began to rise in 2023 after Tyrod Taylor lost his job to DeVito following an injury.

During HBO's “Hard Knocks: Offseason with the New York Giants,” Schoen seemed to hint that Taylor would return as a backup. Raanan says that would never happen, which proves how out of touch he has with the actual players.

“The funny thing is that they misjudge (the situation). If Hard hits “It was true, they really thought Tyrod might come back,” Raanan said. “He wouldn’t come back. He didn't like losing his job to another injury and to Tommy DeVito.

“If the front office really thought that, they’ve completely lost touch.”

Ultimately, Raanan believes both Schoen and Daboll will return in 2025, barring a full locker room mutiny or a series of humiliating season-ending defeats.

The latter remains to be decided, but the former has taken hold. And now Schoen and Daboll are counting on Tommy Cutlets to play well, get the locker room going and keep their jobs safe.
