The New York Jets will look to get back on the winning list in Week 13 when they take on the Seattle Seahawks at MetLife Stadium.
As usual, it's never going to be a walk in the park in the NFL. If the Jets (3-8) expect to beat the Seahawks (6-5), New York needs to focus on a few key things
Here are three keys to the Jets' victory over the Seahawks:
A quick start to the offensive wouldn't hurt
In their loss to the Colts in Week 11, the Jets needed almost the entire first half before the offense behind running back Breece Hall got going. This has been a recurring theme for most of the season, and if New York wants to beat the Seahawks, they will have to come out strong on Sunday against a Seattle defense that is allowing an average of 344.8 yards per game.
Force some turnovers
The Jets defense is second to last in the NFL with eight takeaways, ahead of only the Las Vegas Raiders. Two of them are interceptions.
Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith has thrown 12 interceptions and played in three games with multiple picks this season. Seattle as a team has turned the ball over 17 times this season, which is sixth-worst in the nfl.
Time for Jeff Ulbrich unleashes Hassan Reddick, Will McDonald and the rest of the Jets on Sunday against a Seahawks offensive line that has allowed 37 sacks this season, seventh-worst in the league. Geno Smith is good but prone to mistakes, and if the Jets can force him into an interception or two, that could be the difference in the game.
Gravy Gardner
The 2022 Defensive Rookie of the Year was a liability in coverage and missed out on tough chunk plays that cost the Jets wins in New England and in Week 11 against Indianapolis. His tackling was terrible, he hadn't intercepted a pass in over two seasons, and his off-field attitude toward criticism of his play was embarrassing.
The Seahawks have a three-headed monster in their receiving corps with DK Metcalf, Tyler Lockett and 2023 first-round pick Jaxon Smith Njigba. JSN in particular has been red hot in his last three games with 23 receptions, 367 yards, three touchdowns and two games with over 100 yards receiving.
The Jets need sauce to showcase what made him one of the best cornerbacks in the league not long ago and to stop Seattle's passing attack. Another disappointing game on Sunday and criticism of his play will only grow louder as the Jets evaluate the 2025 roster.
