Giants’ Tommy DeVito to serve as emergency third QB on Thanksgiving vs. Cowboys, per report

The New York Giants want to pick up the pieces after a demoralizing loss at the hands of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday. Luckily for them, they'll be able to get back on the field shortly and try to erase the bitter aftertaste of their Week 12 loss as they take on the Dallas Cowboys as part of the Thanksgiving tripleheader. Unfortunately, their new starting quarterback will not be in the lineup.

Tommy DeVito Due to an injury to his right forearm, participation at Thanksgiving was considered questionable. NFL media reports DeVito will be the third emergency quarterback, meaning Drew Lock will begin. Tim Boyle will be No. 2 behind Lock.

Giants head coach Brian Daboll noted earlier this week that he was “hopeful” DeVito plays on Thursday, but it's not “100 percent,” per The athlete. The Giants' signal caller briefly left Sunday's game in the fourth quarter but returned after missing a single snap.

DeVito, making his first start of the season after New York was benched and later released Daniel Jonessuffered several hard blows during Sunday's defeat. In total he was sacked four times and hit a total of nine times.

Specifically, DeVito left the game for one play on the Giants' second-to-last possession of the day after going incomplete for one second and 15 minutes Jalin Hyatt (which was canceled due to a penalty). Lock came in for the second-and-10 snap and completed a 3-yard pass to the running back Tyrone Tracy Jr.and DeVito then trotted back for third down, where he was sacked for a 2-yard loss. DeVito finished his day completing 21 of his 31 pass attempts for 189 yards.

Lock was the primary backup throughout the season, even when Jones was under center, and has 23 career starts (9-14 record as a starter).
